It's Qld state election day today. Do you know what that means? Yay! No more junk mail from the LNP candidate after today!
If she doesn't get in, it's no more mail, and if she gets in I'm guessing she won't send out nearly as many letters over the entirety of her term as she has in the last few weeks leading up to the election...
For the record, I only got one letter from the ALP candidate, and it was about arranging a postal vote.
I'm just looking up the rest of the candidates on the interwebs while I eat breakfast. I've been following the news, advertising, interwebs and such with the "OMG you made an oil spill!", "OMG the economy", "Argh! Pauline Hanson!", "I'm creating eleventy million thousand jobs more than you, so nyer!", etc, but so far I haven't checked out who the "little people" are in my electorate.
Not sure what the daylight savings people really hope to achieve. I like to amuse myself thinking of the monumental freakout single policy parties like that would go through if they actually got in... Or do they really harbour secret dreams of running the state?
It would certainly make politics more interesting if we broke up the ALP v LNP monotony with a few members of the Daylight Savings Party, Fishing Party, Shooters Party, Legalise Marijuana Party, Family First, Greens, One Nation and Democrats. Let's not forget Pauline Hanson too. If we're voting for every one eyed minority group then we can't leave her out! There'd be so much shouting... everyone would have to wear ear plugs. It'd turn out like those bits of footage you see on TV from other countries with people leaping over desks, throwing bits of paper around and swinging punches at each other.
Awesome.
Disastrous for the state perhaps, but it would be highly entertaining. Let's face it, in harsh economic times like these we need all the free entertainment we can get.
